The name Andalusia is derived from the Arabic word (الأندلس), which reads as Al-Andalus, the Muslim government of Iberia .

The Umayyad Caliphate led by the Moroccan Berbers, occurred between approximately 711 A.C. and the 720s, ultimately lasting for eight consecutive centuries.

The Almariyya Fest begins with a warm welcome speech for the artists, held in a spectacular location in Almería opposite the Alcazaba, in the halls of Almedina Baraka. This reception marks the beginning of a week full of creativity and artistic collaboration.

The highlight of the festival is the grand gala, which will take place on Saturday 13 July at 8pm at the Municipal School of Music and Arts of Almería (EMMA). The gala not only showcases each year the skills of the participating dancers, but also includes the presentation of awards, recognising the talent and dedication of the selected artists by a very senior and expert dance jury committee.
